Canadian Regulators Seek Public Input on ETF Framework Enhancements
Canadian securities authorities have launched a consultation to modernize regulations governing exchange-traded funds, citing the vehicle's $518 billion in assets under management and growing retail investor adoption. The review focuses on structural features like secondary market liquidity and creation-redemption mechanisms.
"ETFs now represent a cornerstone of portfolio construction," said CSA Chair Stan Magidson. The proposals incorporate IOSCO's global standards and a domestic market study, anticipating continued expansion as investors demand diversified exposures with intraday tradability.
